OPENING FOR SEASON

Women’s Club The official opening for the 1965 season of the Canterbury Women’s Club took place this week. A large gathering of members and friends was received by the president, Mrs L. P. Bennett, and the programme arranged by Mrs J. H. Cocks was much appreciated. Songs were sung by: Misses Margaret and Heather Smith, Miss Doreen Donaldson and Mr Robert Allison. There was an elocution item by Miss Edna Neville, and a violin solo by Mr C. Leitch. The pianist and accompanist was Mr Eric Cornwall. Mrs McPherson’s group of Maori items, with guitar accompaniments by Bridgette Hawker, was very popular.

School Holiday.—All schools in Monaco closed yesterday to mark the birth of a daughter, Stephanie, to Princess Grace, on Monday.— Monaco, February 4.
