WOMAN TO SERVE ON FUND COMMITTEE
<New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Feb. 4. The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fund national committee is to Include a woman. After a suggestion by the president of the Federation of University Women, the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath) said today he agreed “wholeheartedly” with the idea. “I have already spoken to the secretary of the National Council of Women who has assured me that the president
of the council, Mrs W. Grant, of Christchurch, would be glad to serve on the committee,” said Mr Seath. “I will be writing to Mrs Grant formally inviting her to serve on this committee,” he added. Yesterday, Mrs Dorothy Winstone, president of the Federation of University
Women, said the appointment of a leader such as the president of the National Council of Women would not only encourage the support of all women’s organisations, but would also underline the fact that women, no less than men, had a part to play in working for peace.
