WIN BY LABOUR

(N.Z. Press Assn.-—Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 3. Mr Wilson’s Government survived a savage Opposition attack on its “first 100 days” in office last night and won a major confidence vote in the House of Commons. In spite of his party’s threeseat majority, Mr Wilson defeated a Conservative Party “no confidence” motion by 17 votes—3o6 to 289. The increased majority was due to abstention by nine Liberal Party members and the fact that five Conservative Party seats are vacant. During the debate, the Leader of the Opposition, Sir Alec Douglas-Home, demanded that Mr Wilson and his Government resign. Mr Wilson refused and blamed the previous Conservative Government for Britain’s present economic troubles.
