Truce For Festival
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) SAIGON, Feb. 3. An uneasy lull settled on the military and political fronts in embattled South Vietnam yesterday on the eve of the lunar new year. Vietnamese who have seen war, disastrous floods and political crises during the past “Year of the Dragon" will welcome the new “Year of the Snake” with flowers, parties and prayers. In the jungles and paddyfields, Government troops kept a wary eye out for the Communist Viet Cong, who have declared a week-long ceasefire from midnight on January 31. The guerrillas lobbed 25 mortar shells on the Government outpost at Thua Tbien province in Central Vietnam and harrassed another outpost in the Mekong Delta soon after midnight. One American military adviser was wounded yesterday by a road mine about 15 miles north-west of Saigon.
