“Christchurch is renowned for its conservatism, and I am surprised that we’ve even got as far as this,” Mr D. P. McLellan told the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening when discussing the Christchurch Regional Authority Bill. “It’s said that what is ordinary business in Auckland Is sharp practice in Wellington and plain dishonest in Christchurch,” he said. “It is pretty hard to make any progress in Christchurch against the background of the Four Ships.”
