Policeman Caught
(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WEST BERLIN, January 19. A West Berlin policeman shot himself in the head early today as he was about to be arrested. He was wanted on suspicion of being a police car thief. In hospital, a preliminary medical examination showed he may lose his sight. More than 3000 policemen were fingerprinted after a police car had photographed from the rear a stolen car with a policeman at the wheel. The policeman evaded a police check outside a bar a few days later. “We think we have him now,” a police spokesman said, “but we do not know whether he will survive.”
