Notable Wedding

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright)

LAGOS, December 26.

The granddaughter of an American banker today wed an African civil servant in one of Nigeria’s most celebrated inter-racial marriages, the “New York Times” news service reported. More than 500 guests saw a tall, blonde former peace corps volunteer, Catherine Zastrow, of Kentucky, become Mrs Clement Onyemelukwe. Miss Zastrow’s maternal grandfather, the late Mr Herman Danforth, was first president of the Federal Land Bank under President Woodrow Wilson’s Administration in 1917.

Her father, Mr Peter Zastrow, is a telephone engineer. Mr Oneyemelukwe, aged 31, took degrees in engineering and economics from Leeds University and the University of London. He is now chief engineer of the distribution division in the giant public-owned Electric Corporation of Nigeria.
