DIVORCE HARDER

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)

COPENHAGEN, Dec. 21

Adultery will no longer mean instant divorce in Denmark under a new marriage bill just drafted in Copenhagen. The bill, sent to the Minister of Justice by a Government committee, would allow a final divorce decree only after 18 months’ separation in adultery eases. At present a marriage can be ended almost immediately where adultery is admitted and both parties agree.

The new bill aims at eliminating differences in Danish marriage legislation compared with Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. The ultimate target is a common Nordic marriage law for all five countries.
