Johnson Accepts Athletic Scholarship

DUNEDIN, December 21

The national 220 and 440 yards hurdles champion, R. Johnson of Otago has accepted an athletic scholarship at the University of California, Los Angeles. Johnson said today he would be away for about three years. He will leave for the United States on January 21. The scholarship re-

quires Johnson to compete for the college where he will come under the coaching of Mr Jim Bush.

Bush had sugested the scholarship to Johnson while he was on a coaching tour of New Zealand earlier this year.

Johnson has eight units towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree. At the University of California he will study mathematics and business administration.
