TV AN AID TO SOCCER?
The Canterbury Football Association is less concerned with the effects of television on its gate receipts than its sister code in the province, Rugby League. Although soccer had a full quota of live telecasts of its matches last season the Canterbury association will report a 50 per cent increase in gate receipts at its annual meeting next March.
Nor are soccer officials seriously concerned over the City Council’s decision to take 20 per cent of fees paid by television for the screening of matches on councilowned grounds.
