Family Loses All

(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, Nov. 8. A family escaped in night clothes when fire razed the home of Mr D. Kahuroa, of Roberts road, Manutuke, seven miles from Gisborne, at 4.10 a.m. today. One member of the family, giving the telephone alarm, reached the exchange but was driven from the building by a blast of flame engulfing the corridor.

He had no time to give the address of the fire and managed to escape with singed hair. Ten minutes elapsed before the Gisborne and Manutuke brigades were alerted and when they reached the fire the building was an inferno with the roof caved in. The family lost all its possessions including a radiogram, television set, two wash-ing-machines and a refrigerator.
