Women's Cricket 1ST INNINGS WINS

P. Moore Has 7 For 41

St. Albans I, St. Albans 11, and Technical had first innings wins in the senior women's cricket competition. No player reached 50 but P. Moore had a good double for Technical, scoring 22 out of her team's total of 45 and taking seven for 41. St. Albans II v. Beckenham Beckenham narrowly avoided an outright defeat when it was 66 for eight wickets in its second innings after St. Albans had declared its second Innings closed at 71 for three wickets, leaving Beckenham 151 runs to win. Resuming at 67 for five. Beckenham was all out for 83. J. Lowe (30), and M. Healey (27) were the only Beckenham bats, men to cope with the steady St. Albans bowling. A. Colville and K. Pyatt batted attractively in St. Albans second innings. In Beckenham's second innings M. Healey again batted well to score 21 before she was run out. The running between the wickets of the Beckenham players was not good—three players being run out in each innings. St. Albans I v. Western Steady batting by St. Albans gave it a narrow first innings lead of two runs over Western. J. Stead (35) and A. Malins (40 not out) were given good support by P. Blackler, N. Steere and J. Watson. P. Adair had the fine bowling figures of five for 54 off 35 overs. Batting again, Western was 67 for eight at stumps, P. Adair scoring an aggressive 41 not out. J. Watson, who took four for 32, and P. Blackler three for 20. were the best bowlers. Technical v. Mai Moa Although Mai Moa made a determined effort it finished 42 runs behind on the first innings. A. Giles, E. Stokes and J. Gamblin batted soundly but the Mai Moa players were never able to master the bowling of P. Moore, who took seven wickets for 41 runs. Technical collapsed badly in its second innings, being all out for 45. Gamblin had the good figures of four for six and P. Keen took two for 10. Scoring 22, Moore was the only player to hold out against the bowling.
