Mobilisation Exercise

The New Zealand Army’s mobilisation exercise, “Exercise Tightrope," is now under way. It began at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday. At present units are carrying out their mobilisation drills and, according to a spokesman at Southern Military District headquarters yesterday, the exercise was “rolling along quite successfully.” About 80 members of the Army in this military district are involved. The order which began the exerfcise was handed to the commander of the S.M.D. (Brigadier T. C. Campbell) and his chief of staff (Lieutenant-Colonel R. J. Moor) as they stepped out of the Bumham chapel on Sunday after attending a centenary thanksgiving service.
