He awarded the fight, a quarter-final bout, to the Russian, Stanislav Sorokin, after Imin 6sec of the first round. When the International' Boxing Association’s executive committee refused to' restage the bout, the Koreans finally persuaded Choh to ’eave the ring. But first Choh picked up his stool and ran to the centre of the ring. He then left quietly. Mr Tanner said afterwards: “I had no option but to disqualify him. He refused to stop fighting every time I said ‘stop, stop.’

“He landed half a dozen blows the last time I told him to stop fighting. The book of rules disqualified him, not me.”
