ffI.Z.P.A. -Reuter— Copyright) WASHINGTON, October 18. The United States conducted an underground nuclear test of low yield at its .Nevada test site on Friday, the Atomic Energy Commission announced. The force of the detonation was equivalent to less than 20,000 tons of T.N.T. The detonation was the seventeenth held this year in the series of nuclear weapons reflated tests conducted in Nevada.

It was announced a few -hours after Peking had disclosed that China had exploded its first nuclear device.
