Bus Concessions For The Aged

Sir, —Now that we have a new board, would it give consideration to issuing an annual ticket for age beneficiaries at 20s a year, available at all times? The present ticket issued to age beneficiaries for 7s 6d is an imposition—four days of the week not available from 2.45 p.m. to 6 p.m., fifth day not available at all; the remaining two days free use, when business is closed down for the week-end. Surely those who built this city deserve better treatment. Those who desire to purchase can do so and it would be revenue in hand, which the board is seeking.—Yours, etc., M. R. JOHNSON. October 7, 1964.

[The general manager of the Christchurch Transport Board (Mr J. F. Fardell) says: “This matter will be considered by the new board when it meets.”]
