WEATHER SATELLITE.—-An artist’s impression of the 830lb Nimbus I weather satellite in earth orbit. The satellite, launched by the United States on August 28, into a near-polar orbit, is designed to send back a complete world weather description every day. Ground stations in 21 countries are receiving detailed weather pictures from 575 miles in space. The satellite carries three television cameras that can take up to 1200 pictures a day of the earth’s surface and cloud cover.
