The Irish St Leger winner, Cassock, th* tire of Great Sensation, has been withdrawn from service at the Hampton Lodge Stud at Invercargill, The last foal of the stallion, which formerly stood in Canterbury. is a filly—a threequarter titter to Great Sensation. The finy 1 * dam ts a halfsister to Greet Sensation by Bellborough. The dam was injured as a foal and no attempt was made to race her. Cassock’s progeny in 12 seasons of racing won 319 races and were placed 727 time* for £158,850 in stake money. The most notable of them was Great Sensation, the winner of three Wellington Cups and £39,413 in stakes, the highest amount ever earned by a thoroughbred racing solely in New Zealand. He won 20 times and was placed on 23 occasions from 64 starts. Cheyenne, one of the country's best milers in reeent year*, was another successful Cassock horse. He won 14 race* and £10.995.

The good (printer, Cardinal King, winner of 18 races, including th* North Island Challenge Stakes twice, Canon, winner of the Great Autumn Handicap, Dunedin Cup and Invercargill Gold Cup, Gay Tommy, winner of 11 races, Ineluding the Ashburton Cup, and Cashmere, winner of 10 races, were other notable progeny of the 21-year-Old stallion.
