BID FOR ‘HERALD’
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON, Sept 2. Lord Thomson has offered £5,245,460 for the “Glasgow Herald” newspaper group. Lord Thomson is already proprietor of the “Scotsman” -—Scotland’s other main daily newspaper.
A statement from the Thomson organisation in London said today: “It is the intention to continue Outram (publishers of the “Glasgow Herald”) as a separate organisation with its own board, to preserve the separate identities of the •Glasgow Herald’ and the •Scotsman’ and to maintain the distinctive character and appeal of each paper.”
