Lower Value In July Overseas orders placed by surveyed firms during July were at a lower level of value than in the same month last year, according to the Government Statistician. Results of the survey, covering just more than half of private imports, showed that orders last month were worth £13.5 million against £l4 million in July last year. Orders placed overseas by the surveyed firms during the six months to the end of July totalled £82.9 million. This was just slightly lower than the £83.1 million worth of orders for the six months to the end of July last year. Orders placed for the three months to the end of July were 3 per cent lower than in the same three months of last year. Payments made by the surveyed firms in the six months ended July 1964 amounted to £75.9 million compared with £69.7 million —9 per cent higher than the corresponding period a year earlier.
