Heavy Defeat Of Nelson
(N Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, August 30. It took the Wellington senior soccer representatives almost an hour to win the initiative against Nelson at the Basin Reserve on Saturday. Then, a spate of eight goals in the last half-hour gave Wellington a comfortable; 9-1, win. The home side never quite clicked into gear until after the interval. When it did, raking ground passes split the tiring defence and the faster, more experienced Wellington forwards poured through the gaps to give the goal-keeper. W. Milne, a torrid afternoon. In the curtain-raiser, the visiting New South Wales High School team was well beaten, 7-2, by the Wellington under-18 side.
