PROGRESS LEAGUE

New Duties Of MrC.N.Todd The Canterbury Progress League and the CanterburyPublic Relations Office have been merged, and the public relations officer (Mr C. N. Todd) will take over the secretaryship of the . league when Mr 11. R. Pool retires at the end of this month. Mr H. H. Deans, president of the league, said last evening that the merger had been agreed to so that both officers would function more efficiently on the administrative side.

With the Public Relations Office being responsible for the Pan-Pacific Arts Festival, there had been a great increase in the secretarial work, Mr Deans said. Mr Todd now has an assistant public relations officer to assist him in the general and secretarial work. Mr Pool, a former Chief Postmaster in Christchurch, took over the secretary's position shortly after his retirement from the Post Office in 1958. Since its inception, the Public Relations Office has been administered by the league, being financed by grants from local bodies.
