EAST-WEST CENTRE
Vice-Chancellor To Visit N.Z. Dr. J. R. Hendrickson, of the East-West Centre in Hawaii, will confer next month with university and government officials in New Zealand on the centre’s programme for promoting mutual understanding within the Pacific-Asian-American community of nations. Dr. Hendrickson is vicechancellor of the East-West Centre’s Institute for Student Interchange. The student scholarship programme is one of the divisions of the centre, an institution established by the United States Congress. Dr. Hendrickson will arrive In New Zealand on September 5 for a one-week stay. His trip also includes visits to Fiji, New Caledonia, Australia, Indonesia, and Ceylon. Five graduate students from New Zealand are now in the centre's scholarship programme with students from the United States, Australia, and 22 other PacificAsian region countries. Their two-year programme offers studies principally at the University of Hawaii, and may include study at an American mainland university or research institute.
