Training On The Beach

(New Zealand Press Association)

AUCKLAND, July 21. The New Zealand Rugby League team may go to the beach as part of its preparation for the first test against France

on Saturday. The coach and former international, Mr M. Robertson, said this today after the 17-strong squad had opened training with a run at Cornwall Park.

“We will train twice today and tomorrow, and will probably have just the one run on Thursday,” he said.

“There is a possibility that we will go to a beach for a run and Waiwera has been mentioned as a likely place.” The team wiH not be going to Whangarei tomorrow for a preview of the French form, in the opening tour match against Northern Maoris.

The announcement of the 13 players for the test match will be delayed until after more practice runs and until more is known about the likely ground conditions.
