SUNNYSIDE HOSPITAL
Road May Be Altered
The development of Sunnyside Hospital on one side of Annex road was favoured by the City Council last evening. The Ministry of Works told the council that the Health Department’s land extended along Annex road from Lincoln road to Middle Lincoln road on the east and over a considerable frontage on the west side. The department could see major problems arising with the development of the road as a major traffic route. Consideration had been given to the possibility of the road being deviated westward in a broad sweep from its present junction with Lincoln road to its junction with Middle Lincoln road so that the main hospital could be on one side of the road.
The new alignment would put the full length of road within the city boundary, the works committee said.
It recommended agreement in principle provided the cost to the council did not exceed that which would be incurred by widening the existing road.
