Solo and Quartet Events The following are the results of the Canterbury Provincial Brass Bands’ Association’s annual solo and quartet competitions held on Saturday:— Junior Solos.—Under 13: G. Campbell, 79 points, 1; D. Christensen, 77, 2; D. Shirtcllffe, J. McMillan and N. Bremner, 75 (equal) 3. Under 15: G. Bender, son, 86 points, 1: D. Horne, 82 2; D. McMillan, 80. 3. Under 17: G. Bremner, 78 points, 1; R. Dougall, 76, 2; D. Owen and J. Strong, 74 (equal) 3. Under 19: R. T. Harris, 93 points, 1; J. Dougall, 91, 2; J. Bartlett, 87, 3. Quartets. Addington Workshops No. 1, 81 points, 1; Christchurch Fire Brigade, 79, 2; Addington Workshops No. 2, 77, 3. Open Variation Solo.—Cornet section: T. Bremner, 94 points, 1: E. Mason, 90, 2: I. Marriner, 88, 3. Other 1 instruments: D. Hoy and G. Rtach, 90 points (equal) 1, R. T. Harris, R. Dougall and C. Tregurtha, 89 points (equal) 3. The chief judge was Mr F. John (Oamaru), assisted by Messrs W. Gibb, N. Taylor, and F. Oakley (Christchurch).
