Craftsman became a clearcut favourite for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups after his performance at Caulfield yesterday when he won the Kambrook Handicap (6ft) in good style. Craftsman came from last In a field of 13 at the 3f. to win running away by a length from No Shenanegans (5/1), with Regolano (4/1) two lengths away third.

Craftsman, which had not raced since he won the Victoria Derby in November, was a long-shot and started at 33/1.
