WEST COAST OUTPLAYED

Canterbury XI Wins, 9-1 (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, July 19. A Canterbury second division representative soccer team proved much too strong for the West Coast at Nimmo Park today, winning 9-1. The ground was very muddy but this did not prevent* the Canterbury players from giving a delightful exhibition of football. Their positional play was much better and they took full advantage of the loose ball to start attacking movements. P. Kay (inside-right), A. McAlpine (left-half) and B. Thomas (right-half) were the outstanding players for Canterbury. R. Bridge (centre-half) and G. Parsons (centre-forward) were easily the pick of the West Coast side. Bridge never stopped trying to get his forwards going and his defence was very solid. Parsons scored West Coast’s only goal, and for Canterbury, Kay (2), C. Hicks (2), T. Penman (2), McAlpine, T. Blows and G. Sayers were the scorers.
