FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A south-west to west airstream flows over New Zealand; a void front is moving eastwards over the south-western Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds; fine at first, but high cloud increasing late today; moderate afternoon temperatures. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds, northerlies predominating; cloudy and cool, with some light showers but more general and heavier rain developing late today. Marlborough and Nelson.—Light variable winds at-first, but north to north-westerlies soon developing and becoming, fresh in exposed places about the Sounds; showers persisting in the western ranges of Nelson; elsewhere mainly fine, but . cloud increasing late today in Nelson and about Cook Strait, with some showers developing; moderate > day temperatures. Outlook. —All districts: unsettled, with rain at times.
