FOUND WITH BATTERY
Owner, Jockey Disqualified
(N.Z. Press Asm.—Copyright) SYDNEY, July 16
A racehorse owner and a jockey caught testing a battery on the Grafton (northern New South Wales) racecourse today were each disqualified for five years.
The owner, Raymond Rissman, is a Lismore hotel licensee, and the jockey. Brian Watkins, aged 22, of Casino, resumed last March after a period of disqualification. They were seen testing a battery on the bumper bar of a car parked on the course by a Sydney C. 1.8. detective, Keith Conwell, who reported the matter to stewards. The battery was tested and found to be alive. An electrician called In got a severe shock from it.
Rissman and Watkins admitted they had the battery in their possession and Watkins told the stewards he had found it on Lismore race track five months ago. Rissman did not have a horse racing at yesterday’s meeting and Watkins did not have a mount.
