Regulations Soon

When proposed regulations come into force soon. New Zealand will be the first country with specific control of conditions under which game is packed and exported, according to the annual report of the Department of ■Agriculture. Legislation last year provided for the licensing of: premises in . which game is packed and for the Issue of game exporters’ licences to those wishing to export game.

The definition of game animals at present covers deer, wild goats, hares, and wild pigs. This can be widened if necessary. The proposed regulations will aim at safeguarding the health of the public in New Zealand and at encouraging and developing an industry which is already becoming a valuable source of overseas funds, the report says..
