(NS. Prass Association) AUCKLAND, June 30. Tbe Takanini trainer, D. R. Cameron, stands to win £l6OO in a bet even "if Sir Dane,.of which he is a part-owner,-runs last in his big spring assignment, the Melbourne Cup. . About three months ago Cameron accepted a bookmaker’s wager of £lOOO to £lOO that Sir Dane would not start in the big race. Similar bets were laid against other horses . which were considered likely to be entered for the cup. According to reports received by'Cameron from the trainer, R. Shaw, Sir Dane, is doing -well again after a spell. He has not raced since he won the Duke of Norfolk Stakes, two miles, at Flemington on March 14.
Washdyke Bracket (NS. Press Association > TIMARU, June 30. Belle York and Ben Blue will be bracketed in the Strathallan Improvers' Handicap on the second day of the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s winter meeting at Washdyke on Saturday. Glenmorven was scratched today from the race, and Tracy’s Comet has reentered the field.
