Feather-Trimmed Wimbledon Dress
[By SVSAX VAVGBASI
“I always like to look nice for Wimbledon.” says the Italian tennis star, Le> Peneoli. It is a pleasant understatement. Lea looks always stunning She has been to seven Wimbledons and given each a certain springtime spirit which helps it through the routine squabbles about professionalism, “bad umpiring” and court manners. Sense Of Fun One year she wore a tennis dress trimmed with mink. Another year she sported lace panties and a bare midriff. Another year she wore a chiffon skirt and had a dress embroidered in gold. This * year it is her ballet-like dress
trimmed with feathers that has had everyone talking. The only other tennis star I can think of with Miss Pericoli’s sense of fun and style was Gussie Moran, who wore lace panties at Wimbledon in the mid-fifties. Gussie was called “gorgeous,” but Lea has the edge. She starts with advantages. Not for nothing is she called the Sophia Loren of tennis. Like other Italian woman, she takes pleasure in being noticed. She has a colourful outgoing personality, which perhaps comes from being brought up in sunny Addis Ababa, where her father is in business. She plays a pretty good game of tennis as well.
