Record Day
The Canterbury University Library set a new day’s record for issues of 636 on the last day of last term. The May “vacation” was a misnomer as the many essays and exercises set entailed heavy work and this was reflected in the demand on the library, said the Vice Chancellor (Dr. L. L. Pownall). The former inquiry office under the clock tower had been converted to provide 400 places for satchels which must be left outside by library users. *
