Scholarship Bid Before Canadian Tennis Tour

The Canterbury junior tennis player, J. Mitchell, is not available to represent New Zealand in Canadian junior tennis tournaments next month. A Christchurch Boys’ High School pupil, Mitchell will sit for a university scholarship this year and he said last evening it would be impossible for him to spend the time away. According to a Press Association message the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association management committee last evening released five names in order of merit, the first two available to

make up the team to go to Canada. The names are:—N. C. McAffer, of Wellington, Mitchell, G. Elliott (Northland), B. Dibley and R. Potter (Auckland). The players, or their associations, must find £l7O each towards the trip and be available from July 12 to September 5. McAffer is available and therefore is automatically selected.

The Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association would have found Mitchell's part of the cost.
