Mr R. W’. Norman has been appointed general manager of the Bank .of New South Wales. He will succeed Mr R. J. Abercrombie, who will retire from the bank’s service at the end of July. Mr Norman will be succeeded as deputy general manager by Mr A. Stewart Richardson, who is at present an assistant general manager of the bank. —(P.A.) Mr M. C. Weir has been elected chairman of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Optometrical Association, and Mr G. F. Bridgman secretary. The former chairman, Mr J. Meek, has left Christchurch to take up practice in Rotorua.
Mr R. C. Williams, deputy superintendent of Wellington Prison, has been appointed inspector of prisons for New Zealand. He begins his new duties in July.—(P.A.)
