Profit Request Rejected

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 29.

A request from the Local Government Association for the apupointment of councils as agents for the Totalisator Agency Board has been rejected by the Premier of New South Wales (Mr Renshaw), the "Daily Telegraph’’ reported. Local councils claimed they should get the profits from T.A.B. operations in their areas and spend the money on community welfare projects, but Mr Renshaw said councils were mistaken in believing big profits would come from the agency business. Of the 12} per cent deducted from betting transactions, the Government would take 5 per cent.
