Overseas Shares Give Strength To Market
Overseas issues, mostly key stocks, followed a stronger trend yesterday to give the market a lift as trading came to a close for the week. New Zealand issues were in balance with rises by leaders barely ahead of falls.
Reacting to Thursday’s announcement of a one-for-one bonus issue, National Electric gained 2s 6d to 30s, Bell Radio recovered further to change hands at 365, while Cyclone Industries rose Is 3d to Ils 3d.
Among Australian leaders to advance were National Mortgage B, Ampol, A.C.1., C.S.R., Waltons and W. R. Carpenter. Only B.H.P. lost ground.
