Return To Christchurch After 27 Years
New Zealanders would work harder if more took part in profit-sharing schemes, said Mr R. M. Cummins, of Seattle, in an interview yesterday in Christchurch, his home town. Mr Cummins, who left Christchurch in 1937. said that profit-sharing schemes
could bring a 20 to 25 per cent increase in production.
Mr Cummins recently retired as regional manager of a United States firm of management consultants.
Mr and Mrs Cummins are in Christchurch to visit friends. As Mrs Cummins is also a local person, they have many friends they wish to meet.
Since arriving in October on a world trip Mr and Mrs Cummins have travelled over much of the South Island. Mr Cummins said he was still sure that the Marlborough Sounds were the most beautiful in the world. New Zealand was the most beautiful country in the world, and had the advantage of being “so packaged,” unlike America, he said. Mr and Mrs Cummins will leave for London on Tuesday.
