Rambler Milestone

’THE American Motors Corporation built its three millionth Rambler during the last part of March: It took more than nine years to build the first million Ramblers, two years and a half to build the next million, and only two years to produce the third million.

Ramblers have become very popular in the United States in recent years, and are also selling well overseas. One of the recent Rambler models won the American “Car of the Year” award, and the styling of the latest car

has been widely praised by motoring writers. The first modern Rambler was built in 1950, but the name dates back to 1902, when T. B. Jeffery built the first Rambler car in Kenosha. In 1914 the car’s name was changed to the Jeffery, but by this time 33,512 Ramblers had been made. Rambler now accounts for 25 per cent of the total compact car output of the United States, and American Motors is the largest single compact car producer.
