Fast work was done on the No, 1 grass and the plough. Both tracks were lightning fast. On the No. 1 grass, Rio iHughes) was better than Surf Boy (Tinsley) at the end of half a mile in 47 2-ssec, the last three furlongs in 36sec. Rio ran wide in the straight and that made his work all the more impressive. After a slow beginning Baraboo (Tinsley) finished strongly over five furlongs in Imin Isec. the last half-mile in 48 2-ssec and three fuylongs in 37sec. He has done really well since coming north.
