STAYED IN HOTELS
Did Not Pay Bills (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 2. Using different names, Ronald William Dunning, aged 35, a farm worker, stayed at hotels in towns as widely separated as Christchurch and Auckland but did not pay his bills, Mr H. Jenner Wily, S.M., was told in the Magistrate’s Court today by DetectiveSergeant B. T. N. Hutton. Dunning, who pleaded guilty to eight charges of obtaining credit by fraud and four of theft, was remanded in custody until April 9 for sentence.
The Magistrate described Dunning, who admitted previous convictions for dishonesty, as a “menace to society.” Mr Hutton said that restitution would amount to £152 4s 3d for hotel bills and 30s in respect of the theft charges, which included theft of hotel room keys.
