TRUSTEE BANK

Plan For Hutt (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 2. A meeting of local body leaders and business representatives today unanimously approved a proposal to establish a trustee savings bank in Hutt Valley. This was announced by the Mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr P. Dowse, who said the meeting followed approaches to him by prominent citizens in the area. He said it was envisaged that the bank would operate over a radius of 25 miles, including Otaki, Masterton, and all places in the North Island south of those towns.

Local body chairmen had been formed into a preliminary committee to lay proposals before a public meeting to be held soon. Public support would be sought for an approach to the Minister of Finance for approval of the scheme.
