Wind Assistance Bars Only Record By School Athlete

On Wednesday, a stiff easterly hampered secondary school athletes’ attempts for records in the heats of the inter-school sports. And yesterday, in the concluding set of heats—the finals are on Saturday—the wind changed to the west but the competitors’ luck did not change with it.

In the under 14 100 yards J. Anderson (West High School) covered the distance in 11.5 sec to equal the three-year-old record but had his time disallowed because of wind assistance. But for the rest, only two competitors were anywhere near new marks.
