Detective Senior-Ser-geant B. Wilkinson, of the Christchurch Central Police Station, has been promoted to the rank of detective-inspector. He will remain in the Christchurch C. 1.8. He joined the New Zealand Police in 1951 and after a year in the uniform branch at Christchurch was transferred to the C. 1.8. He has served in Greymouth and Wellington. In October last year, he was appointed chief detective in Christchurch, the most senior of the non-com-missioned officers in the local C. 1.8.

Detective-Inspector Wilkinson was a noted athlete while at the Christchurch Boys’ High School.
