Brabham Car Disqualified
fN.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, April 2. The Australian racing driver, Jack Brabham, has been disqualified from his win in his new 180 miles an hour sports-racing car at Goodwood last Monday, the “Daily Mail” reported. The reasons: The windscreen wiper did not work, the rim of the spare wheel was an inch narrower than the other wheels, and the petrol filler was inside the car instead of outside. Brabham drove the new model to a third place overall in the sports car event and won his class against powerful opposition. The action is the latest move in the Royal Automobile Club’s get-tough campaign over car-design regulations, the newspaper said.
