Carpenters Walk Off
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 2. AH 10 carpenters working on the new nylon factory at Shannon walked off the job at noon yesterday demanding an increase in wages. The contractors, the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., of Wellington, refused to meet the men’s demands for an increase in their hourly rate of pay from 8s to 8s Bd—the same as paid to carpenters in Wellington.
