FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—Anti-cyclones are situated over the central Tasman Sea and west of Tasmania, with a ridge of high pressure across the North Island; a disturbed westerly airstream lies to the south. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Light to moderate north-easter-lies; fog, clearing to fine weather; mild afternoon temperatures.

Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh westerlies; partly cloudy; moderate temperatures. Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds; partly doudy; mild afternoon temperatures.

Nelson.—Fresh to strong westerlies outside Tasman Bay; elsewhere winds light to moderate and variable; partly cloudy, with mild afternoon temperatures.

Outlook.—All districts: little change. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
