West Batsmen In Form First day: Old Collegians 178 and S5/5, West-University 101. On an easy-paced wicket at Elmwood, West-University scored a convincing six-wicket victory after being 77 runs behind on the first innings. Old Collegians were soon struggling again when they lost the valuable wicket of J. England In the first over of the day. G. C. Beadel and M G. Lester, with some forthright stroking, added a bright 34 for the seventh wicket, but after their dismissal the innings folded up for a mere 105 runs West-University had plenty of time to score the 183 runs required for victory. B. F. Hastings and M. Henderson laid a solid foundation by adding 54 runs for the second wicket. Hastings again batted very solidly and later B Prestidge and J. L. Williams set about the Old Collegians attack with some beautiful attacking batting. Prestidge scored his 50 tn 46 minutes and hit 11 fours tn his total of 59 The umpires were Messrs T. Mathie and J.
