DAMAGE CLAIMS

Advice From Officers (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 12. The Minister in charge of the Earthquake and War Damage Commission (Mr Rae) said today that two officers of the commission would go to Opotiki tomorrow by air or the most practical means, to set up headquarters to advise victims of floods on making their claims to the commission. He said three assessors for the fund, two from Tauranga and one from Wanganui, were also making their way to Opotiki. Two more officers from Rotorua were making for Whakatane and another officer would go to Ohura from New Plymouth as soon as possible, said Mr Rae. “The secretary of the commission (Mr J. R. Bennett) has been in touch with trouble spots and those threatened, during the day,” said the Minister.
